Charleston Bound!

I am writing this post while on the way to Charleston.  Don’t worry, I’m not driving and posting!  I almost wish I was driving, because my husband seems to think I-26 is the Audubon and is constantly speeding up, slamming on the brakes, and radically changing lanes. (and he says my driving is bad?!)  Anyway, I am so excited to be visiting my favorite town in SC, and probably the US, and introducing our son to all the great food and culture that Charleston has to offer.  Traveling with an 8-year-old, our dining experiences will be slightly different from my usual Charleston haunts.  So, no mid-afternoon cocktails at the Charleston Place bar, no long lunches with wine at Magnolia’s, or brunch with Bloody Mary’s at High Cotton, or beers and margaritas at my favorite rooftop bars!  And guess what – I don’t care!  I am just ready to enjoy the weekend with my family.  So if my posts are more about the cold beer and crab cakes or watching the shrimp boats in Shem Creek, just read along and enjoy!  I intend to view Charleston through the eyes of an 8-year-old; except for the drinking age part!!

  1. Hi!

I’m jealous as hell. I loved my trips to Charleston . Are you still with Grapevine or are you on your own. Loved our time to gether. Just wanted you to know that next December, I’ll celebrate my 80th. Lost Van Ruiten about two years ago so I only represent Big Fire and a Lodi Wine called Irma La Tage.

    • Bob,
It is great to hear from you. I can tell from your Facebook posts that you are doing well. I can’t believe you will be 80 – you don’t look a day over 40! I left Grapevine in February and have joined Carolina Wine Source. It has been a great move! And they are based in Charleston, so I don’t mind the meetings! Thanks for following the wine blog!

  2. You must let me know what other haunts you find down there so I can check them out next time I venture down to Pawleys Island! It would be great if we could coordinate a few days in Charleston together!
